Answer:
If your phono pre-amp does not have any adjustment for loading
capacitance, then there is nothing that can be done in this regard. The
best advice in this instance would be to use the lowest capacitance cables
possible. A cable capacitance of around 45 pF is about as low as you
can get, so this would be a good phono cable to use. Below is the expected
theoretical electrical output of the 1042 with a 150 pF load
capacitance. This would be considered the best case scenario (see attached "150pF.jpg).
If
high capacitance cables are used and the load increases to, say 300 pF,
the roll off becomes steeper, limiting the absolute high frequency
limit but also causing peaking (see attached "300pF.jpg).
