Q. I'm trying to dial in an E3 on my Clearaudio Concept Wood turntable with Concept tonearm using the Ortofon test record?

I'm trying to dial in an E3 on my Clearaudio Concept Wood table with Concept tone arm using the Ortofon test record. I can only achieve tracking compliance up to 60um peak at 2.5g. If I set to recommend 2g, I can only achieve a 50um peak.

The E3 is easily capable of achieving its nominal 70 um, and those that we pick out for random testing will tend to do 100 um. We use the same Ortofon test record in engineering. The test is very sensitive to correct bias adjustment, but even so, 70 um should be achievable.

We have been alerted to the following by the originator of the question which may prove use to Clearaudio Concept Wood Turntable and Concept tonearm combination.

The post below is what solved it for the customer. (if you read through the whole discussion, it could be useful too.)

The person in the post was having the exact same issue as the customer. It turns out the arm (ClearAudio Concept / Verify) are very hard to dial in as the adjustment of the antiskate has an effect on the tracking force. This was what the customer was experiencing when trying to setup the E3.  The customer advised, ...when I watched the Ortofon video where he goes through setting up a cart I couldn’t understand why he was able to set the tracking force then just tweak the antiskate without having to go back and check and reset the tracking force afterwards.  The customer added  ...I switched from using digital scales to a basic Ortofon seesaw gauge as the magnetic arm can affect the digital scales readings.

It was suggested to set the tracking force off the platter so, just to the side of the it by putting something the same height as the platter surface. This part seems weird to me, but I tried it and it worked. I was able to dial in the tracking force and the antiskate to where I get clean tone on the test record as mentioned almost all the way to 90 um. The sound is transformed and the E3 cart sounds really good.
