Eroica HX / H - Q. What are the differences between the new Eroica HX and the old Eroica H?

Answer:

The main difference is that the traditional square core armature which will be found on many traditional MC cartridges produced today and which we used in the Eroica H, this has been exchanged for a modern cross-shaped pure iron armature core of our own design. This gives a significant reduction in moving-mass and reduces the effective tip mass of the cartridge from 0.6 mg to 0.4 mg. This has the effect of allowing the stylus to more easily trace the undulations in the groove because it has less inertia and so can change direction more readily. This results in a higher fidelity reproduction of the record groove. At the same time the cross-shape of the armature core holds the stereo left and right coils in a very precise and repeatable configuration compared to the more untidy bundle presented by a square armature core. This helps to improve the channel separation and channel balance which in turn enhances the stereo image presented by the speakers.
