Q. Which cartridge would I need for vinyl manufactured in different regions?
Answer:
The specifications for LPs was laid down by the RIAA in the 1950s, so each cutting and pressing plant should be following the same rules. However, that being said, there are differences between the VTA of records produced during different phases of the LP s development, depending on which cutting lathes were fashionable at the time, which led to some differences around the globe. However, this is not going to affect a cartridge such as the
E3; it is a very good budget cartridge that will do justice to any vinyl source that it is presented with, but it lacks the ultimate resolution for you to be able to discern the differences between different VTAs due to cutting lathe differences. For that, you need to opt for something like the
Ethos, for instance.
