GR3 - Q. Can I fit an MC (moving coil) cartridge to the GR3 at a later date?
Answer: No, the integrated phono amp inside the GR3 is for MM (moving magnet) cartridges only and it cannot be bypassed.
GR3 - Q. Can I use my own separate phono stage or the dedicated turntable input on my amplifier to listen to the GR3?
Answer: No, the output of the GR3 is line level only so, it will overload a dedicated phono input. Instead you should use the line in or aux in on your equipment. You can use either the phono to phono or phono to 3.5 mm jack cables provided to ...
GR3 - Q. Do I need a special phono amplifier or integrated amplifier phono input to use my GR3 turntable?
Answer: No, the GR3 is designed to be plugged directly in to the line in or aux in sockets of any amplifier, powered speaker or other music system. You can use either the phono to phono or phono to 3.5 mm jack cables provided to achieve this.
GR3 - Q. How do I properly align the E3 cartridge which came with my GR3?
Answer: There is no need to re-align the cartridge or adjust the arm height of the GR3 as it has been precision aligned, adjusted and tested at the factory.

GR3 - Q. Can the internal phono pre-amp be bypassed?
Answer: No, there is no user friendly way to bypass the internal phono stage.
GR3 - Q. Can I improve upon the audio output of the GR3?
Answer: Careful siting of the turntable will reap benefits in sound quality. Always keep your records and the stylus spotlessly clean.
GR3 - Q. Do you have a protractor for setup purposes, or can you recommend one?
Answer: Yes, a good one is provided as part of the Goldring Stylus Fitting Kit available separately.
GR3 - Q. Do you provide tonearm spacers?
Answer: No, tonearm spacers are not required for the fitted E3 cartridge or indeed any of the E Series or 1000 series cartridges.
GR3 - Q. Can the tonearm be swapped for another manufacturers?
Answer: No, not very easily. The tonearm mount position is unique to the GR3 and so the plinth would have top be redrilled for the new arm and the old holes filled first.
GR3 - Q. What’s the maximum height of cartridge I can use?
Answer: The maximum accepted cartridge height 17mm.
GR3 - Q. What’s the maximum weight of cartridge I can use?
Answer: The maximum weight of cartridge supported by the GR3 tonearm is 10g.
GR3 - Q. What mass is the tonearm on the GR3 considered to be low/medium/high?
Answer: The tonearm on the GR3 is considered medium mass at 12g.
GR3 - Q. Can I upgrade my E3 to a 3rd party moving magnet cartridge?
Answer: Yes, the GR3 is compatible with most 3rd party MM (moving magnet) cartridges.
GR3 - Q. Can I upgrade my E3 to one of your 1000 series moving magnet cartridges?
Answer: Yes, any model within the 1000 series is viable upgrade path for this turntable. Make sure you purchase a Goldring Stylus Fitting Kit to aid you with fitting and aligning the cartridge.
GR3 - Q. The sound from my vinyl isn’t good, how can I tell that my cartridge is correctly setup from factory?
Answer: The cartridge is expertly set at the factory. Check that the problem has not been caused by a build up of dust on the stylus. For this we recommend the Goldring Stylus Care Kit available separately.
GR3 - Q. Can a record weight be used, if so, is there a maximum weight limit?
Answer: Record weights or clamps are not recommended.
GR3 - Q. Can I use after-market platter mats, if so, are there any I should avoid?
Answer: After-market mats are not recommended.
GR3 - Q. How do I remove greasy finger prints from the painted surface of the plinth?
Answer: Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners. Dry dust should be removed with microfibre cloth only. If particularly dirty, spray furniture polish onto cloth and then wipe over. Always fit the stylus guard before wiping plinth.
